Job description

Description
CAMS Renewable Services LLC is hiring an O&M Technician with knowledge in Balance of Plant (BOP) electrical systems and grid scale PV and Battery energy storage system (BESS) space. Our Technician will be responsible for managing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting PV and BESS site systems, and performing electrical repairs.
This position is a dedicated site worker based within 60 minutes' drive from CAMS managed PV site near Killeen, TX and a BESS site in Seguin, TX.
Must have an excellent work ethic, good communication and documenting skills. Safety is paramount with CAMS and this role requires the Sr. Technician to be proactive in administering the EHS and Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) programs to his team.
Reports To: Manager O&M PV and BESS
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with company safety policy.

  • Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of PV and BESS systems and components. Technician will ensure that the CAMS work order system is fully utilized throughout the project for planned and corrective maintenance.
  • Able to replace/install hardware, inverters, monitoring equipment and any other component within the site.
  • Perform electrical testing using appropriate PPE and procedures.
  • Prepare reports, if needed to comply with deliverables in O&M contracts
  • Help in all areas of preventative and corrective maintenance as directed by supervisor with minimal supervision.
  • Attend training sessions on equipment provided by the manufacturer and approved by manager.
  • In the performance of duties, use equipment and resources in accordance with instructions provided by the company.
  • Maintains adherence to Company policies, quality, environmental health and safety policies and good housekeeping practices.
  • Carry out any other tasks delegated by the company.
  • 25% overnight travel

Requirements
Technical & Electrical Skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend electrical/mechanical schematics, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
  • Electrical knowledge/training with a minimum of three years of experience.
  • Experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting PV and BESS systems preferred; related applicable experience is acceptable.
  • NFPA 70e, Substation Level I & II, and First Aid/CPR certifications; able to certify as a Thermal Image user within 12 months.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Leadership & Communication
  • Strong organization, communication, analytical, planning, time-management, and customer-service skills.
  • Interpersonal skills to hire, train, and retain site staffing.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully with internal teams, customers, and local stakeholders.
  • Must demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, self-discipline, and high integrity.

Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, climb/descend stairs and ladders, and stoop when servicing equipment.
  • Must work outdoors, including in extreme weather conditions, move safely over uneven terrain or confined spaces, and wear required PPE.
  • Ability to drive in inclement weather.

Scheduling & Availability
  • Must be flexible to work weekends and remain available for on-call support.
  • Must respond to emergency call-outs as scheduled.

Other Desirable Skills
  • Licensed Master Electrician
  • Hold a valid Texas Electricians License
  • Experience with maintenance on Solar PV systems; panels, trackers, inverters
  • Valid certificates of training from Solar (PV), Battery Storage Systems (BSS) and Power Conversion Systems (PCS) manufacturers.
  • Perform the commissioning of equipment depending on the degree of maintenance needed.
  • Valid certificates of training for HV/MV switching and substation work
  • Certified in Thermal Imaging and analysis
  • Remote monitoring experience with Fractal, Indi or other vendors
