In this role, you will provide geotechnical and geo-structural expertise for large-scale energy, transmission, and infrastructure projects, supporting everything from site investigations and hazard assessments through design, construction support, and project delivery.

If you enjoy solving complex geotechnical challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and leading innovative foundation and geo-structural solutions, this role offers meaningful technical work, leadership opportunities, and long-term professional growth.

This position is based in Calgary, Alberta, with occasional travel to project sites as required.

What You'll Do
  • Lead geotechnical and geo-structural engineering activities for foundation, retaining wall, and civil infrastructure projects
  • Plan and execute geotechnical investigations, geologic hazard assessments, engineering analyses, and design calculations
  • Develop engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Lead geologic hazard modelling, including seismic, fault characterization, flood, and scour assessments
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission, substation, civil, GIS, and construction management professionals
  • Oversee geotechnical drilling, field investigations, testing programs, and subcontractor activities
  • Develop and manage project budgets while supporting project planning and execution
  • Provide engineering support during construction and communicate technical recommendations to clients and project stakeholders
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering geologists and junior team members
  • Support quality management initiatives while contributing to the development of engineering standards and best practices
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences or a related discipline
  • Registered Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.)
  • 10+ years of experience in geotechnical, transmission, substation, or related infrastructure projects
  • Geotechnical investigations for Linear Infrastructure and desktop studies are required.
  • Transmission line experience is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical investigations, foundation engineering, geological assessments, and geologic hazards
  • Experience preparing engineering reports, technical documentation, calculations, and drawings
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering or construction teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with GIS and/or geotechnical analysis software such as SLIDE, DIPS, RocSlope, LPILE, GROUP, or SHAFT is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with construction-phase geotechnical support, field investigations, contractor coordination, or quality control is an asset
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required, approximately 10–20%
