Position Overview:
We are seeking a team member who can facilitate the validation planning and execution process for various marine products. The primary focus is to work with product development team technical leads and system architecture engineers to help understand the development problems we are trying to solve and help formulate and execute an effective simulation, validation, and integration plan.

Essential Functions:
  • Work closely with Product Engineering teams to develop robust validation plans with clear linkages to requirements and defined criteria.
  • Support all aspects of test execution including documentation, scheduling, sample builds, setup, execution, data collection, teardown, report writing, and issue resolution through root cause activities.
  • Communicate clearly with Program Leads to ensure execution of test plans to committed schedules, maintaining clear visibility to risks, late inputs, scope changes, or delays in delivery to the lab.
  • Partner with program leads to empower cross-functional teams to quickly investigate and evaluate test incidents, field issues, and design gaps, and collaborate with cross-functional teams ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Support local lab operations to maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards as well as ensure seamless integration and strong partnership with the other global validation lab locations.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation aligned with organizational goals. Help develop and maintain strategic roadmaps for laboratory capabilities and capital investments aligned with those goals. Integrate new technologies into lab environments to enhance efficiency and enhance capabilities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering; 1+ years of experience (inclusive of Internship / Co-Op roles)
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary validation equipment and processes (mechanical, environmental, software, hardware - including EMC, systems, data acquisition). Experience with Lab Information management Systems (LIMS), laboratory standards, calibration/maintenance, documentation and test reporting.
  • Affinity for hands-on work with experience assembling test samples, fixtures, equipment, and tear-down of parts and products.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a willingness to help others. Experience in international multi-site collaboration a plus.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a high level of quality in preparation, execution, and documentation of work. Ability to recognize where a high degree of precision and detail is necessary.
  • Passionate and proficient applying 5S+1, LSS tools, Continuous Improvement, and structured problem-solving approaches within laboratory and product development environments.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and exchange accurate information in verbal and written formats.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma is highly desirable to support and advance our evolving culture
  • Experience with recreational boat usage across various product categories enhances our ability to refine learning and improve test methodologies

Working Conditions:
  • Frequently transitions between office and laboratory environments, with the ability to remain stationary for approximately 50% of the time
  • Physical demands of the role include bending, kneeling, balancing, and carrying equipment up to 50-lbs. Project support will sometimes require working outdoors, on-water, and/or in adverse weather conditions.
  • Engages with a diverse range of laboratory equipment including shock and vibration systems, environmental chambers (corrosion, thermal, IPx, etc.), life cycle durability, battery cell cycling setups, EMC equipment, robotics, data acquisition systems
  • Ability to work with prototype and machining equipment such as lathes, drills, vertical mills, saws, plasma cutters, etc.
  • Requires the ability to observe details closely, within a few feet of the observer
  • Working hours may vary to support a global organization
  • Occasional domestic and international travel (10-15%) by automobile or airplane, including day and overnight trips

The hiring range for this position is $59,000 - $85,000 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
