Senior Software Development Engineer in Test
Role Summary
The Sr. SDET is responsible for delivering high-quality, compliant, and scalable software solutions through Quality Engineering, Test Automation, Agile Delivery, and Software Development Governance. This role combines Software Engineering, Automation Framework Development, Test Strategy Support, and Quality Engineering Practices to ensure quality is built into every stage of the software development lifecycle.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Contribute to Quality Engineering initiatives and apply Automation-First, Shift-Left, and Quality-by-Design practices.
  • Support the development of Test Strategies, Test Approaches, and Risk-Based Testing plans for applications, APIs, services, and data platforms.
  • Automate UI, API, backend, database validation, and data quality verification scenarios, and integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build reusable, maintainable, and scalable Java-based automation solutions using sound software engineering principles and automation design patterns.
  • Contribute to quality improvements through test coverage analysis, defect prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Diagnose and resolve automation issues through debugging, refactoring, test suite optimization, flaky test remediation, synchronization improvements, and locator strategy enhancements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies using Jira and collaborate with Product, Development, Architecture, and DevOps teams as needed to improve quality, testability, and delivery efficiency.
  • Follow Software Development Standards, Code Review Requirements, Release Governance Processes, and maintain Requirements Traceability, Test Evidence, and Audit-Ready Documentation.
  • Share knowledge and support adoption of Quality Engineering, Automation Standards, and engineering excellence.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience in SDET, Test Automation, Software Quality Assurance, or Quality Engineering roles.

Core Skills & Strengths
Core Technical Skills
  • Strong Core Java programming skills, including Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Design Patterns, Collections, Exception Handling, Concurrency, Dependency Injection, and Test Framework Architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver, including Page Object Model (POM), advanced XPath and CSS locator strategies, synchronization and wait strategies, automation stability, and flaky test reduction.
  • Strong API Testing experience using REST Assured, Karate, Postman, or similar tools.
  • Experience with SQL, database validation, and backend system testing.
  • Experience with TestNG, JUnit, Maven, Git, and modern software development practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and Bitbucket.
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining automation frameworks for enterprise applications.
  • Understanding of microservices architecture, service integrations, and distributed system testing.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to share knowledge with team members and contribute to engineering excellence.

  • Test Approaches, Traceability Matrices, Post-Test Reports, and other required testing deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of Agile Methodologies, Scrum Practices, SDLC, and Quality Engineering Principles.
  • Experience working within cross-functional Agile teams delivering high-quality software solutions.
  • Audit Readiness, Documentation Standards, Evidence Management, and Governance Compliance.
