Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an Engineering Technician to support development, optimization, and continuous improvement of our composite manufacturing processes, tooling, and production systems with hands-on involvement.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with some practical experience or internship. This person will work closely with engineering, technicians, production, quality, and suppliers to translate engineering designs and changes into robust, repeatable, and efficient manufacturing processes.

This is a hands-on engineering position. The engineer should expect to spend meaningful time on the manufacturing floor, working with technicians, troubleshooting processes, evaluating prototypes, and implementing improvements—not exclusively working at a desk.

---

Key Responsibilities

· Build, assemble, modify, and test mechanical components, assemblies, prototypes, production equipment, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and test setups.

· Read and interpret engineering drawings, work with CAD models, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T.

· Troubleshoot mechanical and manufacturing problems, investigate failures, and identify potential root causes.

· Document measurements, test results, build issues, defects, engineering observations, samples, prototypes, tooling, and equipment.

· Lead process development, validation testing, and improvements to internal processes, fabrication, tooling, quality, safety, and efficiency.

· Operate or assist with 3D printers, prototype equipment, sensors, instrumentation, wiring, data collection, and test equipment when required.

· Follow engineering, manufacturing, quality, and safety procedures.

· Train production personnel on new processes, tooling, work instructions, and engineering changes.

Required Qualifications

· Technical degree, associate degree, or equivalent hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.

· Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability.

· Basic understanding of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.

· Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensional tolerances, and engineering specifications.

· Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous learning and development in engineering skills and problem-solving techniques.

· Ability to use common mechanical measurement tools.

· Experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, machining, prototyping, or manufacturing.

· Experience with CAD software; AutoCAD, Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks strongly preferred.

· Ability to troubleshoot problems systematically.

· Ability to work independently while also taking directions from engineering personnel.

· Strong communication skills, with ability to lead meetings and interact with all levels of the organization.

Experience

· Internships or relevant hands-on manufacturing, engineering experience preferred.

· Strong candidates with less formal experience but strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and hands-on technical capability may be considered.
