Job description

SAIC has an immediate opening for a Networking Engineer with skills in SATCOM or RF.  In this role you will support mission-focused operations by applying expertise in RF communications, IP networking, and information security to configure, troubleshoot, and secure satellite and ground-segment systems. The role involves performing vulnerability assessments, maintaining configuration records, developing technical and program management documentation, and ensuring endtoend system readiness while collaborating closely with government and commercial stakeholders. Candidates benefit from knowledge of RF instrumentation, environmental testing, and industry certifications in networking or security.

  • Must currently hold a TS/SCI and Poly in order to be considered for this position
  • Experience with RF communication
  • Basic understanding of network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, MPLS)
  • Basic understanding of information security principles (e.g. confidentiality, integrity, availability, risk management)
  • Ability to perform security assessments (e.g. vulnerability scans, risk analysis) on ground segment software and network devices
  • Knowledge of IP networking, routing, and switching concepts, QoS, and network monitoring
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and satellite modem equipment
  • Experience providing end-to-end systems engineering support for operational equipment
  • Experience developing and implementing program management plans, equipment test plans, operational readiness plans and technical requirements
  • Ability to maintain accurate configuration management records and traceability matrices
  • Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders across government and commercial sectors
  • Educational background in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience with a degree. 15+ years of experience without a degree

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional experience or completion of academic coursework in satellite communications, RF design, or information security
  • Experience with RF instrumentation (e.g. spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters)
  • Hands-on experience with environmental test chambers (e.g. thermal, vibration, EMI/EMC)
  • Security+ or another security certification
  • Network+ or another network certification
  • Experience authoring User Requirements Documents (URDs), System Requirements Documents (SRDs) and Requirements Verification Traceability Matrices (RVTMs)
  • Must currently hold a TS/SCI and Full Scope Poly in order to be considered for this position; we cannot upgrade
