Purpose:

The purpose of the Engineer in Charge position is to be responsible for the technical operation of a remote truck or road case or portion of either. Responsible for all resources in their assigned area of responsibility.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Direct and supervise remote crew of technical support employees in the performance of their respective responsibilities in accordance with organization and department policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates all technical aspects of remote operations to include camera and audio placement, set-up and break down.
  • Coordinates maintenance of equipment to peak performance levels. Routes to appropriate maintenance departments.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with the assigned event or show.
  • Confirms schedules and manpower requirements are accurate before being sent to Travel Coordinator.
  • Ensures that all show requirements are met and properly billed.
  • Maintains dialogue with management on all show or crew changes.
  • Reports equipment failures and needed repairs. Posts technical reports to Project Server as required.
  • Act as a back-up field technician as needed.
  • Assigns tasks to remote crew using Microsoft Project.
Position Requirements:
  • High school diploma is required; technical degree is preferred.
  • Five (5) yearsโ€™ experience with electronic troubleshooting, installation and repair is required; two (2) yearsโ€™ experience in a television production environment is required.
  • Understanding of AC/DC and RF electronics.
  • Troubleshooting and reading schematics.
  • Good oral communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Basic supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapidly changing demands.
  • Frequent travel to job sites which may require working both outside and inside in all kinds of weather. At times, temperatures may be below 50o F or may exceed 90o. There may also be occasional time in a repair shop environment, where the surroundings are relatively quiet, comfortable, and well lighted.
  • Ability to work with and interact with client on a regular basis.
