Internship Remote Mixing Engineer information

What is an internship remote mixing engineer?

An Internship Remote Mixing Engineer is an entry-level audio professional who assists in mixing music or audio tracks while working remotely, often as part of their training or education. Their main responsibilities include adjusting sound levels, applying effects, and balancing audio elements to achieve a polished final mix, typically under the supervision of more experienced engineers. This role allows interns to gain valuable hands-on experience and industry knowledge, often while collaborating with clients and teams from various locations. Remote mixing internships are ideal for those looking to build their skills in audio engineering without the need to commute or relocate.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship remote mixing engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Internship Remote Mixing Engineer, you need a solid understanding of audio engineering principles, music production, and basic mixing techniques, often developed through coursework or personal projects. Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) like Pro Tools or Ableton Live, as well as plugins and remote collaboration tools, is typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn help interns collaborate effectively with artists and senior engineers. These skills are important to ensure high-quality mixes, meet client expectations, and grow professionally within a remote work environment.

What types of projects and collaborations can an internship remote mixing engineer expect to work on?

As an Internship Remote Mixing Engineer, you can expect to contribute to a wide range of music and audio projects, including singles, EPs, podcasts, and even commercial audio spots. You'll typically collaborate closely with producers, artists, and other audio engineers via online platforms, sharing feedback and session files remotely. This role often involves balancing technical tasks like track editing, mixing, and file management with creative problem-solving, especially when communicating mix revisions or meeting deadlines across different time zones. The experience provides valuable insights into professional audio workflows and helps you build a network in the music industry.

What is the difference between Internship Remote Mixing Engineer vs Remote Audio Editor?

AspectInternship Remote Mixing EngineerRemote Audio Editor
CredentialsBasic audio engineering knowledge, possibly some courseworkAudio editing skills, familiarity with editing software
Work EnvironmentRemote, collaborative with producers and artistsRemote, focused on editing existing audio files
Industry UsageMusic, film, podcast productionPost-production, podcast, radio, music

The Internship Remote Mixing Engineer typically involves assisting in mixing audio tracks during the production process, gaining hands-on experience. In contrast, a Remote Audio Editor focuses on editing and refining audio recordings. Both roles are remote, require audio skills, and are used across similar industries, but they differ in responsibilities and experience level.

Job description

Own and lead the development of analog integrated circuits for neuromodulation medical devicesโ€”from first principles through silicon and into real-world use. Youโ€™ll work on ultra-low-power designs that interface directly with the human nervous system, contributing to technologies that have a meaningful impact on patient care. This includes restoring function, monitoring neurological conditions, and enabling new therapeutic approaches.
We are seeking an experienced Analog Circuit Design Engineer with 7+ years of experience in custom mixed-signal circuit design, specifically focused on neural sensing and stimulation technologies for medical and implantable applications. Strong experience across the following areas is desired: design of ultra-low-power front-ends for sensing neural signals (EEG, EMG), high-efficiency stimulator output stages, power management architectures, data converters, low-noise and low-power amplifiers, RF wireless data transmission (FSK, ASK), and CT filters.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting implantable hardware design and bioelectronics systems requiring high reliability, low power consumption, and compliance with medical safety standards. We value a quality-driven mindset, strong communication skills, and a startup-oriented approachโ€”taking ownership, staying adaptable, and contributing wherever needed to move the work forward.

Open Position:
Richardson, TX (Hybrid)
Remote eligibility available for qualified candidates
Key Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design analog building blocks including PLLs, low-noise amplifiers, charge pumps, bandgaps, serial interfaces, ADC/DAC converters, DC regulators, analog filters, and ultra-low-power front-ends
โ€ข Develop high-efficiency stimulator output stages and power management architectures for advanced mixed-signal ASIC applications
โ€ข Run pre-tapeout verification flows to confirm designs meet performance, power, reliability, and timing requirements
โ€ข Collaborate with layout and digital teams to deliver high-quality mixed-signal SoCs, including physical design support and post-silicon validation planning
โ€ข Create and maintain project documentation and contribute to improving design flows and methodologies
โ€ข Lead and mentor junior engineers
Qualifications:
โ€ข MSEE/PhD with 3โ€“10 years of experience or BSEE with 5โ€“10 years of experience (MS or PhD preferred)
โ€ข Hands-on experience with analog and mixed-signal design including low-noise/low-power amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, LDOs, bandgaps, charge pumps, RF wireless transmission, and power management architectures
โ€ข Experience with medical, implantable, or bioelectronics systems is strongly preferred
โ€ข Proficient with Cadence custom circuit design tools such as ADE-L and ADE-XL and performing Monte Carlo, noise, aging, EM/IR drop, and stability simulations (Synopsys Custom Compiler experience is a plus)
โ€ข Strong experience with simulation tools such as Spectre, Hspice, and PrimeSim
โ€ข MATLAB, SystemVerilog, and Python experience preferred
โ€ข Capable of understanding DRC and LVS results using verification tools such as Calibre, ICV, or PVS
โ€ข Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
โ€ข Self-starter capable of independently driving tasks to completion while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams
