Crafty Penguins is growing our team! We are hiring a full-timeLinux Administrator - Internal Supportto collaborate with our growing team of Linux Specialists.


This role requires you to creatively solve technical problems and extend high-level support to our internal team. In this role, the willingness to learn and be adaptable is absolutely essential.


We are a Linux, Open Source, DevOps, and Kubernetes consulting company that utilizes a variety of tools to help clients in many industries in the areas of: server support, infrastructure design, cloud management, data backups, network security, disaster recovery, and more.   • You've worked at a company that does Linux consulting, or you've done this as a contractor
  • You've used a ticketing system like ConnectWise or some other tool to manage tickets and track time
  • Familiarity with: HTTP and Web pages, and the systems that serve them (Apache, Nginx, etc.)
  • Tuning for PHP processing (You know what PHP-FPM is)
  • Linux based Database Systems (MySQL, Postgresql, SQLite) and SQL in general
  • Internet / IP protocols like SMTP, DNS, DHCP, SSH. You should feel comfortable with every setting on your home Wifi Router.
  • Scripting languages. Bash, Python, and general software programming. You should be able to "code your way out of a wet paper bag"
  • Multiple Linux distributions (Debian/Ubuntu, Red Hat/Rocky, Suse)
  • Microservice Architecture Orchestration tools (Kubernetes/DockerSwarm)
  • Linux-based Hypervisor systems like Proxmox, KVM, Zen, etc.
  • Certifications on our platforms and products (AWS, Azure, K8S, RHEL, and the like)
  • 2-year technical diploma (CIS or CS) or greater


What you'll do

  • Communicate and support the internal team
  • Handle client requests as dispatched from Triage and Sr. Technicians
  • Process Linux patching tasks
  • Process Linux health check procedures
  • Internal, client support stack deployments for management, monitoring, and access
  • Technical documentation updates and new asset documentation for new clients
  • Working triage, reviewing inbound alerts/emails and dispatching
  • Performing testing on new deployments and products
  • Assisting Sr. Technicians
  • Time tracking for all hours worked
  • Some afterhours will be required
  • Have a ton of fun with an awesome team
