Internship Remote Insurance information

What is a remote insurance internship?

A remote insurance internship is a temporary position where interns work virtually, often from home, to gain experience in the insurance industry. Interns may assist with tasks such as policy administration, claims processing, data analysis, or customer service. These internships provide hands-on learning opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to the workings of insurance companies, all without the need to commute to a physical office. Remote formats allow for flexibility and can be especially beneficial for students or individuals balancing other commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Insurance Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Insurance Intern, you generally need a basic understanding of insurance principles, strong organizational skills, and current enrollment in or recent completion of a relevant degree program. Familiarity with insurance software platforms, CRM systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are typically expected. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and self-motivation are standout soft skills in this remote setting. These skills enable accurate policy processing, efficient collaboration, and proactive learning, all of which are vital for success in a virtual insurance role.

Job description

Summary

The Division of Pediatric Behavioral Health at National Jewish Health (NJH) is seeking a full-time doctoral-level pediatric neuropsychologist or developmental psychologist to join our growing team. This position will provide consultation and developmental evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults across the outpatient behavioral health clinic and affiliated specialty clinics in collaboration with partnering organizations.  Referrals are received from internal NJH programs, as well as from primary care providers, partnering hospitals, and community partners throughout the region.

The ideal candidate will be a pediatric neuropsychologist or developmental psychologist who is passionate about providing high-quality, evidence-based assessment and consultation services for children with suspected autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopmental disabilities. This position emphasizes clinical excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, and program development, with opportunities for supervision and training of psychology trainees and involvement in division-wide initiatives.

This position will play a key role in NJHs flexible, tiered evaluation model, which ensures patients receive the appropriate level of assessment based on clinical presentation, developmental history, and family needs, while also promoting timely access to diagnostic services. This model allows providers to efficiently match service intensity to patient needs, reducing wait times and improving continuity of care across the NJH pediatric behavioral system.
Although the primary focus of the role is clinical, there may be opportunities for participation in research, program development, and improvement projects that align with institutional goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening, consultation, and comprehensive neuropsychological and/or developmental evaluations, including diagnostic interviews, test administration, scoring, interpretation, report writing, and feedback to families and referring providers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across National Jewish Health and partner organizations.
  • Supervise and mentor practicum students in clinical assessment.
  • Participate in program development and initiatives to expand pediatric behavioral health services within NJH and with other community partnerships.
  • Maintain documentation consistent with hospital, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, case conferences, and other division initiatives.

Qualifications

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and interpreting the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, as well as integrating results into comprehensive diagnostic formulations for autism spectrum disorder and related developmental conditions.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Colorado.

Preferred

  • Completion of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship with a focus in pediatric neuropsychology (an APPCN-sponsored fellowship is preferred but not required).
  • Board eligibility or certification in Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP-CN) preferred but not required.
