Account Manager - Fire Protection Account Manager - Fire Protection
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Account Manager - Fire Protection to grow and manage a portfolio of commercial and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will combine sales acumen, technical knowledge of fire protection systems and NFPA codes, and strong project coordination skills to drive revenue, ensure compliance, and deliver excellent customer service from estimating through installation and ongoing maintenance. This role requires close collaboration with estimating, operations, and engineering teams and regular client engagement to secure new work and retain existing business.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a defined book of business for fire protection products and services, developing long-term relationships and maximizing account revenue.
  • Prospect, qualify and close new sales opportunities; prepare and present proposals and negotiated contracts.
  • Prepare and review estimates and budgets in collaboration with the estimating team; ensure accurate pricing and timely proposal delivery.
  • Ensure all designs, installations and service work comply with applicable NFPA standards and local codes; coordinate with AHJs as needed.
  • Perform takeoffs and review drawings using Bluebeam and other plan review tools to support estimating and submittals.
  • Coordinate project handoffs and ongoing communication with project managers, field teams and service technicians to ensure successful execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM (opportunities, forecasts, client interactions) and meet or exceed sales and margin targets.
  • Respond to client issues and service inquiries, escalating and resolving problems to maintain high levels of client retention and satisfaction.
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events; provide technical support and product knowledge to customers and internal teams.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and product developments to inform sales strategies and product recommendations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of account management or outside sales experience in the fire protection, life safety, or building systems industry (commercial/industrial preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards relevant to fire sprinkler, fire alarm, and suppression systems; ability to interpret code requirements for proposals and projects.
  • Proven estimating experience; proficiency with Bluebeam for plan takeoffs and markups.
  • Demonstrated success meeting sales targets and managing client relationships; strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present technical information clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and familiarity with project management workflows.
  • NICET certification or other industry credentials and technical certifications are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and job locations as required; valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
