Senior Director, Global Health Economics & Reimbursement (GHER) - TMTT Real-World Evidence
The Senior Director, Real-World Evidence (RWE) is a senior leader within the Global Health Economics & Reimbursement (GHER) organization within Transcatheter Mitral and Tricuspid Therapies (TMTT) business at Edwards Lifesciences, accountable for defining and advancing the strategic role of real-world evidence across the TMTT portfolio. This role is critical to shaping how evidence informs market access, coverage and payment strategy, policy engagement, and long-range portfolio value.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Senior Director sets the vision and strategic direction for RWE, ensures alignment with enterprise priorities, and drives execution of a high-impact, multi-year evidence portfolio. The role serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and a key external representative of TMTT in the RWE. This position includes senior people leadership responsibilities and reports to the VP, TMTT GHER. The role is remote, hybrid or based in Irvine, CA.
How you will make an impact:
  • Define and own the business unit level RWE strategy and multi-year evidence roadmap for the TMTT franchise, aligned with corporate objectives, lifecycle planning, and global value strategy.
  • Provide senior-level leadership on how real-world evidence supports coverage, payment, value propositions, and health policy positioning.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and business partner to leaders across GHER, Regional Market Access and upstream functions including Clinical, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, and Product Development and Marketing organizations.
  • Drive prioritization, governance, and investment decisions across a growing and complex portfolio of RWE initiatives, balancing scientific rigor with business impact and resource considerations.
  • Build, lead, and evolve a high-performing RWE team and network of external partners.
  • Serve as the GHER representative on cross-functional leadership teams, providing strategic direction and decision leadership for critical initiatives.
  • Establish operating models, performance standards, and talent strategies that support scalability, succession planning, and long-term capability development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, scientific excellence, and strategic thinking across the RWE function.
  • Provide oversight of the design, execution, and interpretation of complex RWE programs utilizing diverse real-world data sources.
  • Ensure methodological rigor and strategic relevance across study design, analytics, and interpretation of findings.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear, executive-level insights that directly inform strategic decisions, market access strategies, and value narratives.
  • Oversee dissemination of evidence through peer-reviewed publications, scientific congresses, and executive communications.
  • Partner closely with the US Coverage & Payment, Service Line Value and Global Market Access teams to ensure RWE directly supports payer engagement and customer value strategies.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with external stakeholders, including policymakers, co-researchers, academic collaborators, and professional RWE organizations.
  • Represent Edwards Lifesciences externally as a senior RWE and market access thought leader.
  • Shape and manage strategic external partnerships to extend capabilities and accelerate evidence generation.
  • Ensure all RWE activities adhere to ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and internal governance expectations.
  • Monitor and integrate emerging trends in RWE, analytics, and data innovation to maintain Edwards' leadership position.

What your will need (required):
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in in a life science, health economics, health policy, or related field or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria Required and
    skill levels exceeding the requirements of the Director or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria Required
  • Experience in health economics and/or outcomes research and reimbursement or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria Required
  • Experience working with customers (primarily hospitals and physicians), trade associations, professional and medical organizations and ability to develop mutually beneficial health economics and reimbursement strategies and tactics to support portfolio planning, commercialization, and sales/marketing objectives or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria Required OR Master's Degree or equivalent in in a life science, health economics, health policy, or related field or equivalent work experience based on Edwards criteria Preferred
    Other: Certification in related field

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MPH, MSc, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific, medical, or analytic discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in real-world evidence, health economics, outcomes research, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success defining and executing enterprise-level evidence strategies using real-world data.
  • Proven ability to lead senior teams and influence complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory, payer, and policy evidence expectations for medical devices.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, align, and drive decisions at the senior leadership level.
  • Track record of external engagement and scientific contribution, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with regular presence in the Irvine office.
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

Aligning our overall business objectives with performance, we offer competitive salaries, performance-based incentives, and a wide variety of benefits programs to address the diverse individual needs of our employees and their families.
For California, the base pay range for this position is $209,000 to $296,000 (highly experienced).
