JOB LOCATION - Wilkes-Barre General Hospital
JOB SHIFT - Full Time Days
** This position is eligible for a $20K Sign On Bonus **
POSITION PURPOSE
The computed tomography (CT) technologist performs computed tomography procedures producing sectional and three dimensional images for interpretation by and at the request of a licensed healthcare practitioner. The CT technologist acquires data and reformats it into images needed for diagnosis and for the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures. The CT technologist integrates scientific knowledge about patient conditions, technical skills, and information obtained through patient interaction to result in diagnostic information. The CT technologist assesses and monitors patients, and takes appropriate action in emergency situations to maintain quality patient care. A CT technologist exercises independent professional and ethical judgment. Ensures a high quality of images produced. Responsible for availability and sterility of equipment and supplies used for assigned areas. Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited program in Radiology Technology either hospital based or college degree program.
  • Advanced training and certification in CT required.
Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes
  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a staff technologist is preferred.
  • Experience/certification/internship in CT scan is preferred, however cross-training will be provided at the discretion of the Director/Medical Director of Imaging Services.
  • Competency in components of radiography practice as appropriate; radiation safety and protection.
  • Technical expertise; knowledge of anatomy, teach/instruct, manual dexterity, safety conscious, clerical accuracy, communication skills. IV Therapy skill competency.
Licenses/Certificates
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), with advanced registry/certification in CT
  • If cross-trained or internship in CT, and registry eligible, must have advanced registry/certification in CT within six (6) months of completion of CT training.
  • BLS required
