Job Summary
Responsible for performing medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. Ensures accuracy and reliability of laboratory results. Maintains compliance with established protocols and quality standards. Operates and calibrates laboratory equipment to support effective patient care. Collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver timely and precise diagnostic information.
Essential Functions
• Conducts chemical analyses of body fluids to determine normal and abnormal components.
• Analyzes and verifies test results before releasing findings.
• Performs quality control studies and routine preventative maintenance according to protocols.
• Conducts equipment checks as scheduled.
• Performs STAT testing within established turnaround guidelines.
• Responds to queries from hospital care team members courteously and promptly.
• Assists in the orientation and training of new laboratory employees.
• Maintains professional growth and required certification.
• Reports equipment or computer malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Requirement
Associates degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation
Experience Requirement
0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
