Software Quality Engineer (Software Engineering)

The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Quality Engineer to join our Boeing Global Services (BGS) organization in Hazelwood, Missouri.

Our team of highly motivated, customer-focused engineers' partner with BGS programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and executed, effectively improving the quality of our software products - whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.

The quality engineer will utilize their software development and process expertise to effectively guide and influence project decisions. The selected candidate must work well with minimum direction, be self-motivated, with strong written and verbal communication skills, along with well-developed interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and maintain a psychologically safe work environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in program activities, from initial proposal through planning, verification, certification and delivery
  • Act as an independent set of eyes and ears for Program Managers and the customer, highlighting potential best practices on the team, as well as areas for improvement
  • Coordinates support across SQEs supporting a program to ensure SQE commitments are met
  • Verifies software lifecycle activities and products comply with approved software processes, plans, and standards
  • Identifies process or product non-compliances; supports root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions and other defect investigation/prevention activities
  • Teams with equipment managers of supplier products to evaluate supplier software development performance
  • Identify and analyze program/project software quality metrics to improve software quality and manage risks

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

    • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
    • 2+ years of experience in the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)
    • 2+ years of experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • 2+ years of software quality engineering experience supporting software with AS9115, DO-178, and/or MIL-STD-882E requirements
    • 2+ years of experience with Software Development Processes
    • Experience with DevSecOps and associated tools
    • Experience with Project Management of products developed using Agile software development practices and tools (JIRA)
