The Actuarial Intern assists with a variety of actuarial functions by providing support that will help the Actuarial division meet daily objectives. This is accomplished through exposure to the planning, execution and evaluation stages of various work projects and initiatives, to gain workplace experience in the insurance industry and Actuarial field.

We are looking for someone to:
  • Performs work related to life insurance and annuity Product Development, Inforce Management, or Valuation, as assigned by management.
  • Gains broad exposure to the WoodmenLife organization by meeting weekly with the Internship Cohort, collectively with Executive Leadership, and one-on-one with leaders at the division level.
  • Summarizes and presents capstone presentation of internship experience including project accomplishments, skill development, and key learnings.

We need someone who has:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Rising Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college with area of study in Actuarial Science
  • Working toward ASA certification, with at least one SOA exam completed
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Ability to work 38.75 hours per week
  • Proficient computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with spreadsheet, database and word processing software
  • Exposure to programming solutions, such as Python, R, VB, SQL, or comparable language
  • The ability to provide seamless, trustworthy, attentive and resourceful (S.T.A.R.) customer service.
  • Passion for making an impact in local communities

Project Description:
Projects are sourced across the Product Development, Inforce Management, and Valuation Teams and would be solidified closer to the internship. Past projects have included illustration support, process improvements, PAS conversion support, data warehouse support, migration and enhancement of extracts and code, and competitive analysis, etc.
