Critical Systems HVAC Service Technician

Location: Las Vegas

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced HVAC Field Technicians with the ability to travel to the customer site to start up, commission, troubleshoot and repair the equipment we represent. This position requires the capability to work independently, and candidates should have strong diagnostic skills. Requires the ability to manage projects for start-up commissioning and coordination of personnel and services. This is a full-time opportunity for an energetic self-starter. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and work well with others. The position requires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, Service Coordinators and customers.

Fundamental Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Start-up, commission, and support BMS on equipment we represent
  • Perform factory start-up, commissioning, warranty service on Data Center equipment and systems we represent.
  • Performs electrical and mechanical inspections on equipment to ensure peak performance
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location and operation of the system(s)
  • Represents the company in a positive manner to other trades, contractors and owners
  • Suggest additional services that are beneficial to customer
  • Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Submits required paperwork to Data Mission Critical Administrator in a timely manner
  • Must work in a safe manner daily and ensure that all safety measures are always taken
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Flexibility to work overtime/ weekends, as required
  • Perform PM tasks of the dedicated equipment on site

  • Ability to apply knowledge of refrigeration, air flow, and theory.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups.
  • Driven with the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Effectively communicate and properly describe problems and solutions.
  • Demonstrated technical skills to explain product functionality to customers.
  • Well-developed planning, organization, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to produce clear, timely and concise documentation and have well-developed problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to travel substantially within operational region.
  • A flexible schedule may be required.
  • Willingness to work in adverse working conditions

The Required Profile

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus 3-5+ years' experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
  • Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
