Job description

AVP, Commercial Auto

Description

The AVP will lead commercial auto rating plan externalization effort to build a modern and efficient rating engine that can be utilized by multiple policy admin systems The initial focus for the ideal candidate is to act as a liaison between internal actuarial and IT teams and external Radar vendor to ensure successful implementation of new auto rating plan. This individual will be expected to develop expertise in the Radar software suite as the owner of auto rating engine and coordinate change management over the lifecycle of rating plan updates by states.  

This role will be based in Whitehouse Station, NJ with flexibility to fill in Philadelphia, PA, Simsbury, CT or Jersey City, NJ.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain commercial auto rating plan in Radar, via coordinating with external vendor and internal actuarial team
  • Use ISO manuals and tools for foundational pricing structure and build upon it with proprietary pricing model
  • Manage and implement ISO approved rates in Radar to ensure rating plans keep up to date with full compliance of each state 
  • Manage auto proprietary rating plan development lifecycle, from ideation to launch, by defining pricing features, creating business requirement documents, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including underwriting, actuarial, regulatory, and IT, to gather insights and develop commercial auto products and/or rating plans that meet the business needs across small, middle and specialized markets 
  • Explore and perform actuarial analyses including rate dislocation and monitoring with Radar's analytic tools 
  • Engage business partners to ensure alignment with enterprise rating externalization strategies and execution

Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of Commercial Auto line of business with familiarity with ISO rating structure 
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, rating plan implementation, pricing and/or underwriting, 
  • Actuarial certification (ACAS/FCAS) preferred but not required
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively
  • Proficiency in one programming language (e.g., SQL, Python or R); Knowledge of Radar a plus 
  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to work in a dynamic environment, while adhering to project deadlines
  • Experience working in digital driven ecosystems/companies a plus
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent business acumen and strategic vision for technological innovation across platforms, data, and analytics
  • Ability to project influence and affect outcomes

The pay range for the role is $146,000 to $200,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website.
