Job description

  • Develop statistical methods and procedures to ensure data validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy
  • Design and develop data sampling techniques and statistical methods to solve business and technical problems
  • Address business user needs and answer business and research questions
  • Determine whether statistical methods are appropriate based on user needs or research questions
  • Develop and manage software applications or programming for statistical modeling and graphic analysis
  • Manage analysts updating predictive models, reports, and data pulls
  • Consult on creation of new models, reports, and data pulls
  • Draw insights and make recommendations based on assigned analyses and team projects
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in multiple areas
  • Advance modeling techniques and available hardware/software big data solutions
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests
  • Prepare department business plans, staffing projections, and budgets
  • Requisition supplies and materials and review budgets for cost reduction
  • Interview and/or approve job applicants
  • Conduct and/or review performance appraisals
  • Initiate or approve salary adjustments, performance ratings, and personnel changes
  • Counsel associates and take disciplinary action or terminate employment as appropriate
  • Supervise and instruct workers on data collection, processing, tabulation, and statistical data interpretation
  • Manage large amounts of data processing for statistical modeling and graphic analysis using computers
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operation Research, or a related quantitative and analytics field, plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Operation Research, or a related quantitative and analytics field, plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation
  • Experience with SAS SQL
  • Experience with cloud databases
  • Experience with R programming language
  • Experience with Excel VLOOKUP, pivot tables, charts, and graphing
  • Experience analyzing data using statistical, mathematical, or data mining methods
  • Experience with insurance rating products and principles
  • Experience with Claims, Underwriting, Marketing, or Agent functions
  • Experience with process control and project management
  • May require pre-hire technical screen
  • Must be able to report to the local office
