Job description

Network Engineer, Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer, Consultant to implement, support, and optimize enterprise network infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments. This role is part of the Network Engineering team and is responsible for executing network designs, maintaining standards, and ensuring the operational health of critical network services. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise across routing, switching, security, and data center technologies, with the ability to operate independently in complex environments and support both engineering and operational activities.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Implement network designs and architecture defined by Principal Engineers
  • Own lifecycle management for assigned network domains (deployment, upgrades, decommissioning)
  • Execute network builds, upgrades, and enhancements across WAN, LAN, data center, and cloud environments
  • Handle escalated incidents and perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide operational support for critical services
  • Execute SD-WAN, hybrid connectivity, and infrastructure deployment activities
  • Translate technical requirements into detailed configurations and deployment plans
  • Ensure adherence to established network standards and best practices
  • Maintain and enforce configuration standards and operational procedures
  • Document system design, operational processes, and maintenance activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency
  • Execute complex changes in production environments with minimal disruption
  • Partner with operations teams to ensure service stability and performance
  • Support network implementation for data center, cloud, and application migration efforts
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver network components of larger initiatives
  • Serve as a technical liaison between engineers, operations teams, and vendors
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and support knowledge sharing
  • Act as the domain owner for assigned technologies, ensuring operational health and consistency
Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in enterprise networking
  • Requires strong hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching (Catalyst, Nexus), Cisco Wireless networking (Cisco APs and Cisco Catalyst 9800), network security (Palo Alto, Cisco Firepower, VPN technologies), load balancing (F5 or equivalent), cloud networking experience (Azure, AWS), and automation, Scripting, and IAC (Ansible, Terraform, Python)
  • Requires deep understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), network segmentation (VRF, VLANs), and WAN connectivity and design,
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in production environments
  • Experience executing changes with minimal service impact
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred experience with Cisco ACI
  • Preferred experience with Infoblox (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)
  • Preferred experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)

This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.

Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
