What is an internship Python mechanical engineering?

Internship Python Mechanical Engineering positions are temporary roles for students or recent graduates in mechanical engineering, where they gain practical experience by applying Python programming to engineering problems. These internships typically involve tasks such as data analysis, automation, simulation, and modeling using Python. Interns work under the supervision of experienced engineers and may contribute to ongoing projects, helping them develop both technical and professional skills. These positions are valuable for building resumes and exploring career paths in industries that combine mechanical engineering with programming.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an internship Python mechanical engineering?

To thrive in an Internship Python Mechanical Engineering role, you typically need a foundation in mechanical engineering principles, a working knowledge of Python programming, and current enrollment in or recent graduation from an engineering program. Familiarity with CAD software, simulation tools like ANSYS or SolidWorks, and data analysis libraries in Python (such as NumPy and Matplotlib) is often required. Strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and teamwork skills help you stand out in collaborative and project-driven environments. These competencies ensure you can contribute to technical projects, analyze engineering data, and support innovation within multidisciplinary teams.

What is the difference between Internship Python Mechanical Engineering vs Mechanical Engineering Intern?

AspectInternship Python Mechanical EngineeringMechanical Engineering Intern
Required CredentialsBasic programming skills, knowledge of Python, relevant courseworkMechanical engineering coursework, basic technical skills

Job description

Automation & Integration Engineer – TDI Refrigeration

TDI Refrigeration is seeking an Automation & Integration Engineer to streamline and modernize how our business systems work together. This role focuses on connecting software platforms, automating workflows, improving data visibility, and strengthening system security across the organization. The right candidate will reduce manual processes, eliminate redundancy, and build scalable technology solutions that make everyone more effective.
This is not a helpdesk role. This position is responsible for building systems, improving infrastructure, and driving technology forward.
What You’ll Do:
  • Design, build, and maintain integrations between company software platforms (ERP, CRM, project management, accounting, service systems, etc.).
  • Develop automated workflows to reduce manual entry and improve operational efficiency.
  • Use scripting and low-code/no-code tools to connect and streamline systems.
  • Manage API integrations and data synchronization between platforms.
  • Identify inefficiencies in current processes and implement scalable technical solutions.
  • Support data accuracy, reporting integrity, and real-time visibility across departments.
  • Oversee user access controls, permissions, and system security best practices.
  • Coordinate software updates, testing, and system improvements.
  • Work with leadership and department heads to understand operational needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Support cybersecurity standards and assist with vendor and MSP coordination when required.
  • Document system architecture, integrations, and processes clearly.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Would like 3+ years of experience in systems integration, automation, or software development but not required.
  • Experience working with APIs, webhooks, and database structures.
  • Strong understanding of workflow automation tools (Zapier, Make, Power Automate, or similar).
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, or similar). Familiarity with ERP, CRM, and project management platforms.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and access management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical team members.
  • Organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple system initiatives simultaneously.

Bonus Experience:
  • Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, or industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or similar).
  • Experience improving reporting dashboards and business intelligence tools.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks or structured security policies.

Why This Role Matters
This position directly impacts company efficiency, scalability, and long-term growth. The Automation & Integration Engineer ensures our systems work together instead of against each other, enabling better decisions, faster execution, and reduced operational friction.
Benefits:
  • Company paid portion health insurance for employees and dependents.
  • Dental and vision insurance.
  • Competitive vacation and holiday pay.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Company paid life insurance.
  • Long-term disability coverage.
