What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented a Intern Year Round - Technical Grad.
On any given day, the selected candidate will:
  • Assist with supporting and improving product, process, and system quality across our operations.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and safety personnel to ensure compliance with SNL safety and work-planning quality standards
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the departments Quality Assurance Plan, operational procedures, and training requirements.
  • Assist with performing assessments, hazard and risk management
  • Manage department databases
  • Assist with operational issues by researching and analyzing data using statistical analysis as needed.

This internship is ideal for someone who enjoys teamwork, process improvement, compliance, problem solving, and will prioritize a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Salary Range
At Sandia, we value the important work done by our interns and its contribution to National Security. Because of this, our interns earn competitive pay rates. Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. Qualifications We Require
You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:
  • Earned bachelor's degree
  • Currently attending and enrolled full time in a related accredited graduate program
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to work up to 30 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship

About Our Team
The Above Ground Testing (AGT) Accelerator Operations (1332) department is responsible for the operation of the Saturn, HERMES III, and SPHINX pulsed power accelerators. The primary objective of the department is to provide an applied research environment for the study of radiation effects on materials and electronics. The three accelerators generate electrical pulses of up to 20 million Volts and up to 12 million Amperes with nanosecond durations in order to create extremely intense pulsed radiation environments for the study of radiation effects sciences.
Department 1332 also conducts pulsed power research and development to: improve radiation source fidelity, increase the output and fluence, as well as to improve the overall reliability and reproducibility of the accelerators. These unique, world class facilities are an essential part of the NNSA's Stockpile Stewardship Program.
