Job Description
The Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) is currently seeking Interns in the Autonomy Technology Transition Division (ATTD) for the Fall 2026 Semester.
ATTD conducts research supporting sponsors across the Department of Defense and focuses on autonomous uncrewed aircraft programs. Expertise includes autonomous systems, systems engineering, avionics engineering, embedded software development, robotics, algorithm development, test and evaluation, and hardware- and software-in-the-loop development and test environments and laboratories.
The student will work under the guidance of GTRI researchers performing one or more of the following activities supporting research on Autonomous UAS platforms:
  • Software Development
  • Windows and/or Linux Software Programming
  • Data Analysis
  • C++, Rust, and/or Python Programming
  • Vehicle and Sensor Control, Task Allocation, Perception, and/or Tracking Algorithm Development
  • Test Automation
  • Software Test and Verification
  • Systems Engineering
Required Minimum Qualifications
Intern
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree.
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Full-Time Intern- Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit (Renewable, if eligible to register for internship credit)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Experience with Python
  • Familiarity with Configuration Management and Collaborative tools.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
