You are looking for a dynamic internship opportunity working in multiple positions across finance and accounting for a global organization that makes the world and our communities a better place.  You are excited to expand your leadership skills and be a contributor to international practice. HDR is seeking an intern to work at its global headquarters in Omaha, NE. We provide a collaborative learning environment supported by strong mentorship, diverse opportunities, and an employee ownership culture built on doing the right thing to make great things possible.
This internship offers in-person experience alongside other interns with opportunities to work on projects supporting Internal Audit, Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Tax, Procurement, Financial Reporting, and Mergers & Acquisitions. 

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting in the documentation of accounting processes and internal controls, and communicating conclusions
  • Assessing compliance with HDR policies and procedures
  • Researching and discussing professional accounting literature
  • Performing special projects to support financial reporting and management decision-making
  • Conducting budget analysis
  • Learning and development opportunities using data automation and analytics tools, such as Alteryx, Power BI, Power Automate, and Copilot Agents, to support process improvement initiatives, data-driven decision-making, and project financial results
  • Working within HDR's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Participating in a team environment and developing strong communication skills
  • Leveraging Question and Answer sessions with Accounting and Finance leadership to network and build an understanding of the business
  • Engagement and interaction with HDR senior leadership, including the Chief Financial Officer
  • End-of-internship presentation with Accounting and Finance leadership to provide a synopsis of projects completed
     
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate accounting, finance, or closely related program during the summer of 2027
  • 1+ years completed toward a degree with at least a 3.4 GPA
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills; advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Exposure to data automation, visualization, and reporting tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Power Automate, Snowflake, SQL, Python, or interest in learning them. Also, experience or interest in AI technologies.
  • Willingness to learn and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture
  • This is an in-person internship located in Omaha, NE.
  • Local candidates from surrounding universities, strong preferred. However, surrounding univerisities will be considered.

  • Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program

  • Must possess strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
