The Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Specialist role is designed for a highly analytical, curious, and business-minded professional who can transform complex, multi-source data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization. Positioned within Finance, this role partners closely with Operations, Sales, IT, and executive leadership to drive performance visibility, process improvement, and data-driven decision support.
More than a traditional reporting position, this role requires a "business detective" mindset-investigating trends, developing hypotheses, and delivering clear, meaningful recommendations that influence business outcomes. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with business acumen to ensure insights are both accurate and operationally relevant.
This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Business Intelligence
  • Extract, integrate, and analyze data from ERP systems, process control/historian platforms, utility systems, and external data sources.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable business insights aligned with operational and financial needs.
  • Apply operational and financial context to ensure accuracy, consistency, and relevance of analysis.
  • Document assumptions, methodologies, and limitations for all analytical outputs.
  • Identify relationships in data and distinguish between correlation and causation.
Investigation & Forecasting
  • Develop and test hypotheses to identify key business drivers and performance trends.
  • Build foundational models to support forecasting, predictive insights, and decision-making.
  • Source, validate, and reconcile data across multiple systems as needed.
Communication & Presentation
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and executive-ready presentations to communicate insights effectively.
  • Present findings, risks, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment and understanding of analytical outputs.
Finance & Accounting Support
  • Align data outputs with financial structures such as general ledger accounts and cost centers.
  • Support FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Assist with accounting support tasks such as reconciliations and journal entries as needed.
Automation & Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and improve data workflows.
  • Develop and support automation tools, data pipelines, and validation processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Operations & Project Support
  • Analyze operational performance metrics including production, yield, capacity, and efficiency trends.
  • Provide analytical support for capital projects, process improvements, and resource planning initiatives.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field required.
  • 2-5 years of experience in business analysis, FP&A, data analytics, or a hybrid finance/analytics role.
  • Manufacturing, food processing, or agriculture industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical skills, including:
    • ERP systems (Sage MAS 500 or similar) data extraction and reporting
    • SQL (complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions)
    • Power BI (dashboards, data modeling, DAX)
    • Python (pandas, automation, basic statistical analysis)
    • Excel (Power Query, pivot tables, advanced formulas, financial modeling)
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and business acumen.
  • Experience with forecasting, predictive modeling, or advanced analytics is a plus.
  • Familiarity with modern data tools (e.g., SCADA/process historian systems, dbt, Git) is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift and transport moderately heavy equipment (e.g., computers and peripherals).
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000 annually (bonus potential based on performance goals)
Benefits for Non-Union Employees include:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage
  • Prescription Drug Coverage
  • Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Insurance
  • Basic Life and AD&D Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match

  • Cross-functional exposure across Operations, Finance, and IT
  • Strong focus on automation, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package
