JOB DESCRIPTION

Build Your Future at DTCC

As a Government Relations Intern on the Government Relations team, you will support the departmentโ€™s work with internal business lines, lawmakers, regulators, and trade associations on legislative and regulatory policy issues affecting DTCC and the financial services industry. You will gain practical exposure to policy research, legislative analysis, stakeholder engagement, written communications, and DTCC Political Action Committee (PAC) activities.

The program includes orientation, training, manager engagement, feedback milestones, networking, and development experiences that help students explore potential full-time career paths, including EDGE where applicable.

What you will gain

  • Hands-on work connected to real business priorities, not only observation or administrative tasks.

What you will do

  • Monitor and flag relevant news, legislation, hearings, regulatory developments, and industry events affecting the financial services industry.
  • Watch and summarize congressional and state legislative hearings and industry events on topics such as financial regulation, financial technology, market structure, data privacy, cybersecurity, and market resiliency.
  • Support DTCC PAC activities by preparing written political updates, assisting with PAC Board presentations, and helping prepare for meetings with Members of Congress.
  • Research and analyze proposed legislation for its potential impact on DTCC, and help prepare subject matter experts for congressional meetings through research, briefing memos, and related materials.
  • Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, capture notes and follow-ups, and support internal and external communications.

What will help you succeed

Required

  • Currently pursuing a bachelorโ€™s degree in Political Science, History, Constitutional Law, Economics, Business, English Literature, or a related field.
  • Expected graduation date: Spring 2028
  • Minimum GPA: 3.2

Preferred

  • Coursework, projects, prior work, or internship experience related to politics, public policy, financial markets, financial regulation, or financial services.
  • Strong interest in politics, financial markets, financial regulation, and/or the financial services industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • For law students, interest in legal research, analysis, and writing related to legislative, regulatory, or other policy proposals.

What makes you successful

  • Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to ask questions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use feedback and adapt as you learn.
  • Collaboration, professionalism, and accountability.

Benefits and work model

  • Competitive hourly compensation.
  • Hybrid work model: 3 days in office and 2 days remote, based on team schedule.
