Description:


Position Overview:

The Mechanical Sustaining Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring existing products meet the high standards expected of our fitness equipment through root cause analysis, strength analysis, and testing. This person will lead efforts to resolve field issues and support value add/value engineering efforts. Prepare CAD models and drawings for various components and assemblies to prototype and validate solutions. Ensure compliance with product specifications, internal and external standards, and testing requirements. Conduct product and component testing to validate designs. Complete documentation to report findings and support design changes. This is a non-supervisory position.


Responsibilities:


Product Support & Troubleshooting

· Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues arising from field feedback and warranty data.

· Conduct root cause analysis of failures returned from the field or discovered through testing

· Research and develop test procedures, complete strength and fatigue analysis, and conduct testing to confirm failure modes and validate solutions.

· Review, develop and update DFMEAs and Engineering Change Management

· Update CAD models, drawings, and Bills of Materials. Work with global engineering team to manage and implement engineering changes.

· Hold technical design reviews and other engineering meetings to support product changes


Personnel & Communication:

· Work with Quality, Global Engineering, Key Technology, and New Product Development teams to gather data, communicate findings, and collaborate on design solutions.

· Regular communication with Asia teams outside of normal business hours to gather information, support testing, and transfer design details.

· Occasional travel to Asia factory locations to understand factory manufacturing constrains and implement solutions.


Cost Reduction & Optimization:

· Identify opportunities for value engineering, cost reduction, manufacturing efficiencies, and material improvements without sacrificing quality.

Requirements:


Education:

· BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field required


Experience:

· Mechanical Engineering internship, co-op, and/or senior design project experience, consumer products experience preferred

· Demonstrable experience in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred)


Other Requirements:

· Strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills

· Strong mechanical aptitude, with hobbies or projects showcasing your passion for design and problem solving

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical documentation

· Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals

· Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently

· Familiar with quality control processes

· Ability and willingness to travel internationally as project needs dictate

· Ability to communicate and work well with many different teams, both domestically and overseas.

· Regular communication with overseas teams outside of typical office hours
