Stantec's New England Transportation group is looking for an entry-level Structural Engineer in Maine.We are looking for an individual that is passionate about improving our communities through the thoughtful planning and design of transportation systems and infrastructure. Your Key Responsibilities
  • Use Microstation/InRoads & ORD design software daily to support the design development process
  • Assist with the design of bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and sign structures incorporating agency practices and AASHTO LRFD standards.
  • Prepare design calculations and quantity take-offs for construction cost estimates.
  • Assist with the completion of bridge construction plans and specifications.
  • Perform project research and analyze/present data in tabular or graphic format.
  • Contribute to engineering reports and technical studies.
  • Conduct field visits during the design development process.
  • Attend client, agency and public meetings to see the different phases of a project first-hand.

Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Some working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
  • Microstation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with structural design is a plus.
  • Excellent organization, project management and communication skills both written and verbal along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in structural design. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience is preferred. Previous internship experience a plus.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) designation preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months from date of hire.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave.
