Mechanical Engineer Hardware | Columbia, MD | Full Time Schedule: Standard Day Shift, Monday–Friday
Clearance Requirement: Active Secret security clearance

Compensation Range: $100,000 – $140,000 Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Columbia, MD, supporting the design and development of mechanical systems for electronic products. This role is well-suited for an early-career engineer who enjoys hands-on work, technical problem-solving, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams. The Mechanical Engineer will support Integrated Product Teams in the design, analysis, manufacture, and testing of digital, RF/analog, and mixed-signal electronics hardware across multiple levels of integration, including chip, PCB, module, chassis, and system-level designs. This position offers strong mentorship, technical growth, and exposure to real-world product development in a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities * Design mechanical parts, enclosures, and assemblies for electronic systems using SolidWorks
* Create and update 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
* Support thermal and structural evaluations through simulation, analysis, or testing
* Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper PCB integration, fit, and mechanical clearances
* Assist with prototype builds, lab testing, and design verification activities
* Participate in design reviews and contribute to product improvement discussions
* Apply best practices in electronics packaging, manufacturability, and material selection
Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* 1–5 years of relevant experience (internships, co-ops, or academic projects accepted)
* Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
* Basic understanding of thermal principles and heat dissipation in electronic systems
* Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
* Effective written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in a team-based engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications * Exposure to thermal or FEA tools (e.g., Ansys, FloTHERM, COMSOL)
* Experience with injection-molded part design
* Hands-on experience with prototyping, 3D printing, or lab testing
