Job Details
Compensation: Towne Park is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location. The annual base pay range for this position is $182,000 - $200,000.
Benefits: Employees are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance, accident insurance, critical illness insurance, hospital indemnity insurance, and telemedicine benefits. Employees are provided company-paid basic life and AD&D insurance as well as short-term and long-term disability. Employees are also able to enroll in the company's 401k retirement savings plan.
Paid Time Off: Employees accrue 0.0654 hours of PTO per hour worked up to a maximum of 136 hours per calendar year. Employees receive 6 paid holidays throughout the calendar year and employees accrue up to a maximum of 4 paid floating holidays per calendar year.

Summary:
The Tech Lead / Principal Software Engineer provides technical leadership while remaining actively engaged in the design, development, and delivery of software solutions for the Nexity platform. This role leads a distributed team of software engineers, establishes technical direction, mentors team members, and ensures the successful delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality applications. Working closely with Architecture, Product Management, and Quality Engineering, the Tech Lead drives engineering excellence, supports business priorities, and promotes best practices in modern software development, cloud technologies, and AI-assisted engineering.

Descriptive Statement(s)
Provide technical leadership for a distributed software engineering team by establishing technical direction, mentoring engineers, conducting code reviews, and ensuring adherence to architectural standards and engineering best practices.
Design, develop, test, and deliver high-quality software solutions while remaining actively engaged in hands-on software development and technical problem solving.
Lead Agile software delivery by facilitating sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimation, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery.
Partner with Product Management and Architecture to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions, prioritize work, manage changing priorities, and ensure alignment with product roadmaps and architectural standards.
Promote software quality by driving secure coding practices, application performance optimization, technical documentation, automated testing, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle.
Leverage AI-assisted software development tools to improve engineering productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and development efficiency while promoting responsible AI usage across the engineering team.
Identify, communicate, and resolve technical risks, project dependencies, and delivery obstacles; provide timely updates to leadership regarding project status, priorities, and resource needs.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture by coaching team members, encouraging knowledge sharing, supporting continuous learning, and developing technical capabilities across distributed teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Product Management, Architecture, Quality Engineering, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders, to ensure software solutions meet business objectives, technical standards, and customer needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field required. Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.

Work Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience developing enterprise software, including 2+ years leading engineering teams as a Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or similar technical leadership role. Experience with multi-tenant SaaS platforms, IoT, payments, or connected devices preferred.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, .NET/C#, Angular and/or React, SQL Server, NoSQL databases, REST APIs, and modern cloud application architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience leading distributed or offshore development teams using Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, estimation, and continuous delivery.
  • Experience conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers, driving engineering standards, and delivering scalable, secure, high-performing software solutions.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) and understanding of modern AI engineering concepts and responsible AI-assisted software development.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and business partnership skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, manage competing priorities, and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices, including OWASP principles and PCI-aware application development. Azure certification and experience with Python, Next.js, LLM development, MCP, mobile applications, or payment technologies are preferred.
