Job description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate within Consumer Technology to support Platform Services initiatives that enable reliable, secure, and resilient technology experiences across the enterprise. This role contributes to the tools, processes, and operational capabilities that help engineering teams build, deploy, monitor, test, and support critical technology platforms.

This role supports Consumer Technology's Platform Services organization, which provides the foundational tooling, automation, observability, resiliency, testing, and operational capabilities that enable engineering teams to deliver reliable and secure technology solutions. Platform Services supports the health, stability, and continuous improvement of enterprise technology platforms through monitoring, automation, incident management, performance testing, business continuity planning, and operational excellence practices.

In this role, you will work alongside engineering and platform teams to support the operation, monitoring, testing, and continuous improvement of technology platforms used across the enterprise. You will assist with platform support activities, observability and monitoring processes, automation initiatives, incident management practices, and performance and resiliency efforts that help ensure critical services remain available and reliable.

This position is ideal for early-career candidates with an interest in platform engineering, cloud technologies, technology operations, automation, observability, and enterprise-scale systems. You will gain hands-on experience collaborating across teams, supporting modern technology platforms, and contributing to services that directly impact employees and customers.

You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

CODE provides:

  • Immersive onboarding and foundational technical training

  • A supportive cohort experience of peers starting their tech careers

  • Dedicated mentors and program managers who guide your development

  • Professional development, career coaching, and workshops

In this role, you will:

  • Support platform tooling and services that help engineering teams operate, maintain, and improve enterprise technology environments.

  • Assist with observability and monitoring activities by reviewing dashboards, system alerts, logs, metrics, and performance indicators.

  • Support technology environments that utilize Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB, Splunk, AppDynamics, cloud platforms, and internal engineering tools.

  • Contribute to automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and enhance platform reliability.

  • Help identify operational toil and support efforts to streamline recurring support and operational activities.

  • Participate in testing activities, including test execution, documentation of results, issue tracking, and validation of fixes.

  • Support incident management activities by gathering information, documenting findings, assisting with issue triage, and tracking resolution efforts.

  • Assist with performance testing activities to help teams understand application and platform behavior under expected workloads.

  • Participate in Mission Control and operational readiness activities by monitoring platform health and escalating issues according to established procedures.

  • Support business continuity planning, resiliency testing, security, risk, and compliance activities through documentation, testing support, and evidence collection.

  • Collaborate with engineering, platform, operations, security, and risk teams to support reliable and secure technology services.

  • Contribute to Platform Practice and Wellness initiatives that support operational excellence, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and platform health.

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Kubernetes, Kafka, MongoDB, or comparable container, messaging, and database technologies through coursework, projects, internships, or hands-on experience.

  • Familiarity with observability and application performance monitoring using tools and concepts such as Splunk, AppDynamics, dashboards, logs, alerts, metrics, and traces.

  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages to automate routine tasks, reduce operational toil, and improve reliability.

  • Understanding of the software development lifecycle, including requirements, coding, testing, source control, deployments, release management, and change management.

  • Experience with Git, GitHub, or similar collaboration platforms, including branching, pull requests, code review, and technical documentation.

  • Knowledge of Generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and responsible AI practices, including validation, privacy, security, and human oversight.

  • Exposure to Agentic AI concepts, including goal decomposition, tool use, multi-step workflows, agent monitoring, and human-in-the-loop controls.

  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with approved AI-assisted productivity and engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Chat, ChatGPT, Claude Code, or similar tools for code generation, debugging, testing, documentation, summarization, and prototyping.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills, with awareness of incident response, resiliency, business continuity, cybersecurity, operational risk, and compliance; a bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline is preferred but not required.
