Eligibility: Open to US Citizens.
To qualify, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid roles, such as volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be considered. Your resume must clearly outline your relevant experience; if qualifying through education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Basic Requirements for Physician (Neurology):
Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies such as the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or another accrediting organization acknowledged by the U.S. Department of Education at the time of degree conferral.
A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from a foreign medical institution must demonstrate education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited U.S. schools. This equivalency can be shown through permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the U.S. and graduate education abroad, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: A copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency must be included with your application.)
Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Graduate Training: Following the attainment of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.
To qualify for this position, candidates must also meet the following additional requirements:
Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited residency in the relevant specialty (Neurology) and possess equivalent experience and training totaling at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for the required residency training for the specified specialty.
If selected, a salary quote will not be provided at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process will commence after the initial job offer is accepted, involving the Activity Compensation Panel to calculate base pay and market pay to establish your starting salary, which will be communicated once approved.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are utilizing education obtained from foreign institutions to meet qualification requirements, you must provide evidence that your educational credentials have been evaluated by a recognized organization specializing in the interpretation of foreign education programs, confirming that such education is equivalent to that obtained in an accredited U.S. program; or that full credit has been awarded for courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
