Staff Pharmacist

As a per diem, nonexempt Staff Pharmacist you will play a vital role in delivering safe, accurate, and efficient pharmacy services. This is a hands-on opportunity to make a direct impact by ensuring the accuracy of medication orders, verifying technician-prepared products, and safeguarding controlled substances. You will contribute to a high-performing team by mentoring new staff, maintaining seamless daily operations, and supporting the Director in optimizing pharmacy performance.

Schedule: This per diem, nonexempt position will provide coverage for PTO, weekends, or as needed up to 19 hours/week. There are no regularly scheduled hours for this position.

Location: Havenwyck Hospital, located in Auburn Hills, MI, is a Joint Commission accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital that offers individualized inpatient and outpatient programs for all ages.

About the Pharmacy: Pharmacy hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm, weekends/ holidays, 8:00am-4:00pm, and utilizes HCS and Omnicell systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
  • Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
  • Ensure the secure storage, tracking, and maintenance of controlled substances
  • Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
  • Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
  • Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy; PharmD preferred
  • Current Michigan pharmacist license in good standing
  • Proven effective communications skills; verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting
  • Experience with Omnicell

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $44.09 to $78.70 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
