Job description

Job Description:

The Manufacturing Engineer I is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes, improving production efficiency, and assisting with the development of process improvements. This role contributes to departmental objectives by helping to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing Engineer I works under guidance to analyze production issues, support implementation of engineering solutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This position focuses on building foundational engineering knowledge while contributing to continuous improvement and operational success.

Primary Duties:

  • Assist in the development and improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Support the implementation of process changes, including equipment setup, workflow improvements, and standard work practices.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and basic improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support problem-solving and process optimization efforts.
  • Assist with documentation of manufacturing procedures, work instructions, and process changes.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts to resolve production issues and improve equipment performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste and increasing efficiency.
  • Follow established safety, environmental, and regulatory standards in all engineering activities.
  • Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist in evaluating equipment and tooling to support production requirements.
  • Support testing and validation of new processes or equipment changes.
  • Participate in projects related to process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate updates and findings to supervisors and team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline;
  • 0+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related field,
  • Or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and engineering concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret basic technical drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and develop technical and operational knowledge.

Essential and Physical Functions:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with guidance and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during the work shift.

Work Environment:

  • Perform work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to loud noise, dust, temperature fluctuations, and industrial equipment.
  • Regular visits to production areas with varying environmental conditions.
  • Collaboration with engineering, operations, quality, and production teams.
  • Compliance with all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required in production areas.
  • This role is classified as a Safety Sensitive Position, requiring adherence to all safety protocols to ensure a safe and secure work environment.
