Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish, evolve, and maintain office and production network architecture/IT infrastructure
  • Manage and troubleshoot production IT infrastructure to support operations
  • Meet rapidly growing capacity needs with sufficient lead time
  • Report regularly on key performance and capacity metrics
  • Perform and oversee daily system and database server updates
  • Ensure systems and logs are backed up
  • Diagnose and fix technical issues related to software and hardware
  • Write clear and concise documentation
  • Pursue the best solutions while considering time investment and cost
  • Track and report all tasks
  • Support the transformation of established infrastructure using automation
  • Establish new system environments and upgrade/patch existing ones using automation
  • Build necessary automation, tools, and alerts on an ad-hoc basis (using Bash, Ruby, Python, Go, etc.)
  • Monitor system and application performance to detect errors
  • Identify and suggest possible improvements to procedures
  • Respond to requests as needed: in person, via phone, chat, text, and email

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in building, maintaining, and supporting large office and production systems
  • Experience in maintaining and supporting highly-available distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu/Debian/RHEL a plus), MacOS, Windows, iOS, and Android administration
  • Strong experience with:
    • Linux CLI environment
    • Common scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.)
    • TCP/IP networking/routing, SSH/SFTP, SMTP, IMAP, HTTP, DNS, BGP
    • Network security (e.g., firewalls (Fortigate), NATs, VLANs, IPSec VPNs, TLS/encryption, etc.)
    • User access control (ActiveDirectory/LDAP)
    • The AWS ecosystem and VMWare virtualization
    • Backup and restore systems
  • Experience with:
    • Clustering, High Availability, DR, SAN
    • Version control systems (Git/GitHub)
    • SQL, PostgreSQL
    • Writing clear and concise process documentation
    • Central logging and monitoring solutions: e.g., Wazuh, Prometheus/Grafana/AlertManager, etc.
    • HAProxy, nginx, load balancing
    • HP switches/APs/RADIUS

  • Familiarity with:
    • Container orchestration (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes)
