Our hospitals in Frederick, Maryland and Richmond, Virginia opened in 2023, built from the ground up with a vision for a culture unmatched in veterinary medicine.
We are seeking a second full or part time oncologist for our Frederick, Maryland hospital. We are looking for individuals who are interested in collaborating with the entire hospital team and desire to take an active role in shaping the internal medicine department and practice in a sustainable, engaging way.
As an oncologist, you will utilize your unique expertise to diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients with cancer. Importantly, you will lead a compassionate dialogue with your clients about treatment options best suited for them and help guide them through stages of treatment. With our team-centered approach, continual collaboration with the Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine and Cardiology departments is necessary to both provide and receive support. As such, you will also educate the ER (and other services as needed) with guidelines regarding best practices for the emergent case management of oncology patients.
We cultivate departments based on the interest and expertise of the professionals on our team. You will see a combination of stable appointments and hospitalized transfers for which your training best equips you to optimize a patient's outcome. Unique administrative roles that enable you to practice at your highest level:
  • Patient Care Coordinators assist with client communication, treatment plan estimates, and coordination of complex or interdepartmental care of high acuity patients
  • Robust and engaged team of licensed veterinary technicians and assistants to support sustainable high level patient care.

We are seeking oncologists:
  • Who support and prioritize patient care, self-care, and community care, as these do not have to be mutually exclusive.
  • Are committed to open collaboration with the emergency service and other specialty departments.
  • Who enjoy sharing knowledge to improve learning and development for the hospital and our internship program.

Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university
  • Board-certification or residency-trained in oncology
  • Licensure in good standing to practice in the state of Virginia and/or Maryland
  • The ability to make decisions and communicate clearly and effectively with fellow team members and pet families
  • A commitment to practicing the highest standard of medicine, upholding the veterinary code of ethics
  • Clinical experience in emergency medicine or general practice, or completion of a rotating or specialty internship
  • Professional demeanor and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude
  • Support for new graduates who have commitment to continued professional development and mentorship.

$150,000-$300,000 per year dependent on schedule
