Job Title: Pump Rig Operator

Department: Drilling

Reports to: Pulling Unit Superintendent

Location: Florence AZ

Job Summary:
The Pump Rig Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of pump systems used in water wells at an In-Situ Recovery (ISR) mine. This role ensures the reliable and efficient operation of wellfield pumps to support mining operations, adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate pump rigs to install, retrieve, and service submersible and centrifugal pumps in water wells at the ISR mine site.
  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on pump systems, including troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve pump performance issues to ensure optimal water flow and pressure for ISR mining processes.
  • Conduct pre- and post-operation checks on pump rigs and associated equipment to ensure safe and efficient functionality.
  • Maintain accurate records of pump maintenance, repairs, and service activities, including well performance data.
  • Collaborate with wellfield technicians and engineers to coordinate pump installations, replacements, and system upgrades.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies during operations and maintenance activities.
  • Operate and maintain rig equipment, including hoists, cables, and tools, ensuring proper care and storage.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Assist in training junior operators or apprentices on pump rig operations and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanical systems, hydraulics, or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of [2-5] years of experience operating pump rigs or servicing water well pumps, preferably in mining or industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of submersible and centrifugal pump systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Familiarity with ISR mining processes and water well systems is an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for pumps, motors, and related equipment.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred for operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wellfield diagrams.
  • Physically capable of performing manual labor, including lifting up to [50 lbs] and working in outdoor environments.
  • Commitment to safety practices and compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions at an ISR mine site.

  • Shift work, including nights, weekends, and on-call duties, may be required.
