Just for Kids, awarded Employer of the Year by Buffalo State and the University at Buffalo, is looking for enthusiastic, creative, and motivated Assistant Program Managers at our Cheektowaga, Grand Island, Sweet Home, and Williamsville locations who have a passion for working with todayโ€™s youth and whose everyday priorities align with Just for Kids core values: to provide an engaging, enriching, and safe out of school experience.

Just for Kids is a community-centered non-profit organization that offers before and after school and summer programming in the Amherst, Cheektowaga Central, Cheektowaga Sloan, Cleveland Hill (Cheektowaga), Grand Island, Sweet Home, and Williamsville Central School Districts. We also offer programming at The Park School of Buffalo, Saints Peter and Paul School in Hamburg, St. Benedict School in Amherst, St. Mary's School in Swormville, and Nardin Academy in Buffalo.


Position Summary

The Assistant Program Manager supports the efforts of the Program Manager to create and implement appropriate and engaging activities for the Just for Kids Before and After School Program participants in a safe, supervised, structured environment, in alignment with OCFS regulations. The Assistant Program Manager Coordinates with the Program Manager to determine responsibility for administrative tasks. Act as a point person for site needs during Program Managerโ€™s absence.

  • Plans and implements age-appropriate daily activities; models appropriate activities to staff as needed.
  • Supports communication of scheduled spaces of groups of children based on size, activity and maintaining ratios.
  • Provides support and assistance to enrichment curriculum related tasks.
  • Create and assist with distributing regular staff communication to include upcoming weekโ€™s activities, schedule changes, special guests, etc.
  • Provide direct competent supervision of children and staff at all times.
  • Ensure a positive work environment for staff.
  • Assist in marketing efforts while at site to promote the Just for Kids program and make continued efforts to grow and develop the program within the school and community.
  • Assist to maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Any other duties specified by the Program Manager and the Just for Kids Program Administration.

Schedule

Before and After school programs follow the District/School calendar, Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 8:45am & 1:45pm - 6:00pm, plus 1 hour of planning each week school is in session. Both Before and Afterschool and Afternoon only positions are available.

Requirements:
  • Before employees are eligible to start working, they must be cleared through NYS OCFS. This includes the completion of several background checks, medical clearance, and fingerprinting.
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience working in childcare
  • Pursuing Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred
  • Some supervisory experience preferred

Physical Requirements: This position is very active and requires walking, bending, kneeling, running, twisting and squatting. This position includes prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending. Generally, must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.
