Job description

Island Operating is seeking experienced Offshore Production Operators to support offshore production facilities throughout the Gulf of America. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of offshore oil and gas production systems while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with strong production knowledge who can work independently, mentor less experienced operators, and communicate effectively with offshore personnel, client representatives, and contractors while living Island Operating's ZONE Zero safety culture.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize offshore oil and gas production and utility systems.
  • Perform equipment start-ups, shutdowns, and process adjustments to maximize production efficiency.
  • Monitor and control process variables including pressure, temperature, flow, level, and chemical injection rates.
  • Perform production optimization while maintaining product quality and minimizing downtime.
  • Operate and monitor separators, glycol dehydration systems, heat exchangers, produced water systems, burners, compressors, pumps, and associated production equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections and identify equipment abnormalities before failures occur.
  • Conduct equipment testing, calibration verification, preventive inspections, and minor maintenance activities.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance by applying and removing Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) isolations and coordinating Permit to Work (PTW) activities.
  • Participate in Job Safety Analyses (JSA), Toolbox Talks, Risk Assessments, and safety meetings.
  • Monitor Fire & Gas systems, Emergency Shutdown (ESD) systems, and other safety-critical equipment.
  • Complete daily production reports, operating logs, environmental documentation, and client-required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Assist in training and mentoring less experienced operators.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and support a positive team environment.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company policies, client requirements, BSEE regulations, and Island Operating's ZONE Zero safety culture.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of offshore production operations experience.
  • Strong understanding of offshore oil and gas production processes and equipment.
  • Experience with:
    • Three-phase separation
    • Glycol dehydration systems
    • Heat exchangers
    • Chemical treating systems
    • Produced water systems
    • Production optimization
    • Oil and gas measurement
    • Utility systems
  • Working knowledge of Permit to Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and safe work practices.
  • Proficient computer skills and production reporting experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
