Job Description

Publicis Media is seeking an in-house Senior Graphic Designer to create high-quality work that serves the business and advances its goals.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced designer who can move comfortably between creative thinking and practical execution. The work will be varied. Assignments may include new-business presentations, executive communications, brand materials, digital recruiting campaigns, event creative, training materials, thought-leadership reports, internal communications, social content, short-form video, awards submissions, and agency marketing materials.

The successful candidate will be able to understand a business need, help shape the creative brief, recom

mend an approach, and deliver polished work across formats. This person should be equally comfortable developing an original concept, improving an executive presentation, extending an established visual identity, shooting and editing a short video, and preparing final materials for distribution or production.

This position is based at Publicis Media's Chicago office at 35 West Wacker Drive and requires working in the office four days per week. Some business travel may be required, as necessary.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

  • Partner directly with the Chief Marketing Officer and Creative Director to translate business goals, communications needs, and creative briefs into clear and effective design.
  • Develop creative concepts and carry them through execution, revision, production, and delivery.
  • Design executive presentations, pitch decks, credentials materials, reports, thought-leadership pieces, event materials, recruiting campaigns, training materials, internal communications, social assets, print collateral, and other marketing content.
  • Create polished, persuasive presentations for clients, prospects, employees, senior executives, and industry audiences.
  • Support new-business and pitch teams, often working within tight timelines and responding to changing information.
  • Develop and maintain templates, visual identity systems, toolkits, and reusable resources that improve the quality and consistency of work across Publicis Media.
  • Extend existing brands thoughtfully while recognizing when an assignment calls for a new visual approach.
  • Shoot and edit short-form video content, including executive interviews, event footage, internal messages, social content, and promotional videos.
  • Handle essential video-production tasks, including framing, lighting, sound, editing, color correction, captions, transitions, graphics, music selection, and file preparation.
  • Work with outside vendors, printers, photographers, videographers, editors, and other creative partners when needed.
  • Present creative ideas clearly and explain the reasoning behind design choices.
  • Listen to feedback, ask useful questions, and revise work without losing sight of the original business goal.
  • Manage multiple assignments at once, establish priorities, communicate progress, and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality control across design, spelling, grammar, branding, accessibility, file organization, and production specifications.

Using AI in the Creative Process

AI is becoming a standard part of creative work at Publicis Media. The Senior Graphic Designer should have professional experience using generative AI and other AI-enabled tools to improve creative thinking, strategy, and execution.

This may include using AI to:

  • Help write, clarify, and respond to creative briefs.
  • Research audiences, industries, competitors, and cultural context.
  • Explore creative territories, concepts, headlines, visual directions, and storytelling approaches.
  • Help develop creative, brand, content, and communications strategies.
  • Translate approved strategies into practical creative executions.
  • Generate, adapt, edit, or extend visual assets.
  • Create early prototypes, storyboards, mood boards, scripts, and presentation structures.
  • Improve production speed while maintaining a high standard of originality and craft.
  • Adapt work efficiently across audiences, agencies, channels, and formats.

The successful candidate will understand that AI supports creative judgment rather than replacing it. All AI-assisted work must be reviewed for accuracy, originality, brand alignment, confidentiality, bias, intellectual-property concerns, and overall quality.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • At least four years of professional experience in graphic design, visual design, brand design, art direction, or a closely related field.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent design judgment, conceptual thinking, visual storytelling, and finished work across multiple formats.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and working competence across the Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience using Figma or another collaborative design platform.
  • Practical video-shooting and editing skills.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable video-editing software.
  • The ability to capture useful, professional-quality footage using a camera or smartphone.
  • A working understanding of composition, framing, lighting, sound, pacing, captions, and motion graphics.
  • Demonstrated experience using generative AI and AI-enabled creative tools in a professional setting.
  • Experience using AI to help write and answer creative briefs and to develop and implement creative or communications strategies.
  • Strong command of typography, layout, visual hierarchy, color, imagery, and brand systems.
  • Experience designing executive presentations and turning complex, incomplete, or highly detailed information into clear visual communication.
  • Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
  • The ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and take ownership of assignments.
  • A collaborative working style and the ability to accept direction and feedback professionally.
  • Comfort working directly with senior executives and handling high-visibility assignments.
  • The discretion to work appropriately with confidential or sensitive business information.
  • The ability to work in Publicis Media's Chicago office four days per week and travel occasionally when business needs require it.

How We'll Define Success
