Description:

Summary/Objective
This position is responsible for coding and entering into the EMR procedures, infusion, pathology, and professional charges for US Digestive Health.


Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Coding and charge entry within 48 hours from date of service.

Review of documentation for physician services.

Assign CPT and ICD-10 codes to services rendered from physician documentation.

Enter charges in practice management system.

Research edits /holds placed on claims as a result of coding issues.

Remain current in knowledge of billing, coding, and insurance guidelines.

Field coding and billing questions from coworkers and patients.

Addresses facility and departmental communication through daily review of all correspondence, including incoming email messages.

Participates in Clinical Quality measures established by facility, including all documentation requirements within Ambulatory Medical Record.

Utilizes AMR system effectively and in manner consistent with facility guidelines when providing patient care.


Competencies

Must be able to work independently and efficiently with little supervision.

Knowledge of outpatient CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding, as well as medical terminology.

Knowledge of the legal aspects of medical billing and documentation requirements.

Organizational and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Must demonstrate ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Must demonstrate competencies in electronic health record and billing system.
