Job Title: Math Specialist
Reports To: Building Principal, Director of Curriculum
FLSA Status: Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
To provide assistance to the Principal and teachers with meeting Federal, State, District and School goals and objectives in mathematics.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid IL Professional Educator License with Self Contained K-9 endorsement
Middle School Math Endorsement
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the delivery of mathematics related instruction tied to the District Curriculum Standards.
Monitor student progress.
Coordinate math assessments and progress monitoring.
Collect assessment data, providing charts and graphs.
Monitor the use of research-based math related software.
Select and articulate appropriate materials and resources.
Model research based best practice instructional strategies in the classroom.
Make recommendations for and provide staff development in coordination with the school improvement plan and mathematics needs.
Other mathematics related duties as assigned by the principal.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of IL State Standards in Mathematics of the prescribed curriculum.
Knowledge of current research in Mathematics.
Knowledge of varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results, and prescribe actions for improvement.
Basic knowledge and understanding of use of current technology, including disaggregation of data.
Skill in verbal and written communication with students, parents, and others.
Ability to plan and implement instructional activities for maximum effectiveness in math.
Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators and others.
Demonstrated success in training other professionals.
