Job description

Oakland FlexTech High School is seeking a full time High School Science Teacher. Must have teacher certification and endorsement (DI).
Block Scheduling on Monday - Thursday (7:50am - 4pm); Friday office hours from 9am - 3:30pm.
Are you an educational dreamer, believing all students will be inspired learners in the right environment? Are you looking to transform yourself, the students you will serve, as well as the broader educational landscape? Do you want to join a passionate and collaborative faculty who continuously strive to make a better school?
Oakland FlexTech High School is located in Farmington Hills, MI and serves the greater Metro-Detroit area. As a 9-12 high school, FlexTech offers flexible scheduling to accommodate learning outside the walls of the school through internships, college dual enrollment and various community projects. Students find themselves challenged and inspired by the progressive, competency-based and project-based learning model that is at the core of our instructional program.
Students come to Oakland FlexTech High School looking for a more relevant high school experience. They seek a small, personal environment where they feel supported and encouraged to pursue their interests. The school has an open campus that operates under a seat time waiver, so student schedules are markedly different from a typical high school and there is an emphasis on using technology to support our methodology.
Teachers and students spend their day in an open environment that was specifically designed to mirror the contemporary work world where students are expected to manage their time and build independent and collaborative work skills. Although teachers do some typical classroom instruction, they spend a lot of their time one-on-one or in small groups guiding student work and projects.
