Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis. Should review of your qualifications result in a decision to pursue your candidacy, you will be contacted.
Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom.
The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned. Teaching modalities may be face-to-face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction.
All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
  • Teach accounting courses at a variety of times and locations. Primarily teach first and second-year courses in the accounting transfer and workforce program within the Business Department. The instructor will be responsible for teaching courses such as Principles of Financial Accounting, Principles of Managerial Accounting, Introduction Accounting, Introduction to Computerized Accounting, Accounting Internship, Computer Accounting Applications, Cost/Payroll Accounting.

  • This position will require the use of instructional technology within the curriculum and in the classroom. As needed, teach business courses in the transfer and workforce program areas. Contribute to the development, review, assessment, and maintenance of accounting and business classes. Assist in recruitment, retention, advisement, and graduation of students.

Required Education
All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards which normally include an earned Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application.
Required Experience
(1) Master's Degree in Accounting or (2) Master's Degree in Business or business-related field WITH a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Minimum of five years of accounting experience.
Preferred Education
CPA is preferred. College teaching or training experience is preferred.
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with computer-assisted/multimedia instruction and online learning management systems is preferred (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students in and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned, be they face-to-face, hybrid, online, or within the context of dual credit instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures.
Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation. Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications in a timely manner. Assessment of student performance; including submission of final grades in a timely fashion. Maintain ethical and professional behavior. Be available to students by appointment. Attend adjunct faculty meetings. Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels. Complete any required training. Other related duties, as assigned.
  • May require evening, night, and/or weekend teaching assignments with synchronous or asynchronous student sessions as required. Maintain accurate records of students and complete forms as required. Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations and submit grades by established deadlines. Spend extended periods grading assignments and participation, providing timely and prompt feedback. Assess course(s) taught for continuous improvement. Other duties as assigned by Department Chair or designee.

Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; ability to provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; ability to create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; ability to communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups; ability to treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice, without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity; ability to exercise the highest professional and ethical standards in the use of College time and resources; and, ability to observe the stated policies and procedures of the College.
