Chemours is seeking Wet Mill Operators to join our Mining team! This position will report directly to the Mill Manager at our TRS, Florida location.

Maximize Heavy Mineral Sands wet mill operation and processes. Assist in all other areas of the plant where knowledge, skill and ability exist. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Starts up and shuts down equipment, i.e., centrifugal pumps and seals, kilns, screen system and conveyors in order to start production or have equipment repaired.

  • Checks equipment and performs maintenance repairs i.e., adjusting packing, changing belts on small pumps, assist water operator with floc shed.

  • Patrols area, operates equipment, monitors and adjusts panel board controls, takes samples and trouble-shoot problems in order to maintain efficient operation.

  • Inspects safety equipment, i.e., safety showers, eye wash stations, safety harness/lanyards, fire extinguishers, washing thickener overflow screen, washes decks, etc. in order to ensure equipment is operational and/or ready to use if necessary.

  • May substitute for Control Room Operator, PCP Operator, CUP Operator, or Mill Manager during absences to provide direction and guidance to Operators.

  • Able to work rotating shift schedule as needed.

  • Does Grading table sample, scrub tests, and gathers samples from designated locations and performs analyses in area lab, and makes adjustments based on the results.

  • Turns dials and handles, opens and closes valves on wet mills in order to obtain a specific ore grade.

  • Cleans work area to maintain safety and housekeeping standards.

  • Washes, picks, sets and adjusts rougher, scavenger, cleaner, refinisher, finisher spirals in order to maximize mineral recovery and maintain proper concentrate grade.

  • Communicates status of the operation with other departments to ensure appropriate information is received in order to maintain safe, efficient operation of the site.

  • Does lockouts and assists mechanics with repairs using hand tools and safety equipment.

  • Operates mobile equipment, i.e., front end loader, skid steer, Bobcat, and Mini Excavator for moving equipment and clean up around the mill.

The following is required for this role:

  • High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent

  • Ability to read, write and follow directions in English

  • Must be able to perform basic maintenance functions.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment with different people.

  • Ability to assist in and fuse pipe in accurate lengths.

  • Ability to use various hand tools.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

  • Must be able to resolve problems associated with spiral operation.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions and accomplish work safely.

  • Ability to go from task to task without leaving problems for others.

  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule and/or varying shifts and must be punctual in adhering to established start times; attendance at work is an essential function to the performance of this position.

  • Ability to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed

The following is preferred for this role:

  • 3 -6 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 3 -6 months of equipment operating experience and proficient in operating bulldozers, forklift/lull, excavators, payloaders, and possibly other various pieces of processessentialequipment.

  • Basic mechanical skills/hand tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to use hands, fingers, and feet in a coordinated effort to move levers, depress foot pedals, and turn dials to operate power machinery.

  • Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time in the operation of mobile equipment.

  • Must be able to work in changing environmental/weather conditions such as ambient heat/cold and/or rain.

  • Capable of wearing personal protective equipment, such as hearing protectors, respirators, steel toe boots and other safety items as necessary.

  • Frequently lifts or moves up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to use various hand and air operated tools to maintain infrastructure equipment.
