Senior Embedded Linux Wireless Driver Engineer
Location: Waukesha, WI Experience: 9+ Years
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Linux Wireless Driver Engineer to design, optimize, and maintain high-performance Wi-Fi driver solutions for next-generation embedded systems. This role involves deep Linux kernel work, wireless stack integration, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient connectivity features.
Architect, develop, and optimize Wi-Fi/wireless drivers for embedded Linux platforms.
Customize and enhance Linux kernel, device drivers, and wireless subsystems for performance and security.
Integrate wireless components into Yocto-based Linux distributions.
Collaborate with hardware, systems, and application teams to define wireless interfaces and requirements.
Debug complex issues across kernel, driver, and user-space layers using tools like JTAG and kernel tracing.
Maintain and improve existing wireless driver codebases; contribute upstream where applicable.
Evaluate emerging wireless technologies and standards for potential integration.
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
8–9+ years in embedded systems with a strong focus on wireless/Wi-Fi driver development.
Deep expertise in Linux kernel development, mac80211, cfg80211, and Wi-Fi stacks.
Strong hands-on experience with Yocto and custom Linux builds.
Proficiency in C/C++ and Python scripting.
Solid understanding of networking protocols: TCP/IP, DHCP, WPA/WPA2, etc.
