Job description

Job Summary This position, under the direct supervision of the Manager of Channel Infrastructure, will support the design, permitting, construction, and administration of capital improvement and maintenance projects related to the Port of Corpus Christi Authority's (PCCA) waterways, dock slips, and dredge material placement areas. Essential Functions: Assist in the planning, design, and construction of channel and waterway infrastructure projects Conduct field data collection and inspections Review project elements, engineering drawings, and supporting documentation Process and index U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) real estate out grants and operational permits

Support the licensing and management of dredge material placement areas Prepare technical exhibits, graphics, and correspondence Promote and maintain a culture of environmental awareness and responsibility Perform clerical and administrative tasks as needed Establish and maintain organized office files and records Adhere to Port policies and procedures while maintaining positive employee and stakeholder relations Perform other related duties as assigned Additional Physical Factors: While performing duties employees are regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Use of steel toe boots, safety glasses, hard-hat, high-vis vest required in field environments. Environmental Factors: General office environment/Field environment likely exposure to adverse weather conditions.

Minimum Qualifications: This is an internship position. Candidates shall be attending an accredited college or university with a major in Civil or Coastal/Marine Engineering or a related field (preferred); demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D preferred.

Strong writing, editing and speaking skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.
