Job Description

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Enterprise Data Office Co-Op supports the organization in one of two key functions: Data Engineering or Software Engineering. Candidate will be placed based on skillset and current need of the business. Co-Op will work as an engineer on an agile squad to assist in delivering value to our customers by applying technical skills and expertise to business and/or technical projects of a low to moderate level of complexity. As a member of an agile team you will be actively involved implementing new features and enabling capabilities using modern software engineering tools. Common skills could include SQL, Python, Java, dbt and other cloud-based technologies , as well as Data Management practices.

Expectations of Co-Op

Responsible and accountable for outcomes by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank’s risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Active participation in all agile team ceremonies
  • Plays a key role as an individual contributor on projects or agile teams
  • Completes work assignments in conjunction with more senior staff members
  • Participates in other learning sessions within the EDO; actively closes knowledge gaps with the guidance of more senior staff
  • Works to increase knowledge of the industry and the applications processed by Fifth Third Bank through all available channels

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • 4-year degree seeker in Information Technology or related degree
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Prefer candidates that have relevant internship and/ or co-op program experience
  • Prefer candidates with experience with software development and/or programming
  • Familiar with SQL
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships
