This position plays a critical role in developing robust molding processes, validating new tooling, and supporting production with a focus on quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

If you're someone who enjoys technical challenges and wants to make a measurable impact in a collaborative manufacturing environment, we'd love to meet you.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and document injection molding processes for new and existing products.
  • Lead the validation of new molds through IQ/OQ/PQ and customer-specific validation protocols.
  • Establish robust molding windows using scientific molding principles.
  • Perform mold sampling, capability studies, and process development.
  • Troubleshoot molding, tooling, and material issues to maximize uptime and product quality.
  • Set up, start, and optimize injection molding machines.
  • Process a variety of engineering and commodity resins.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Tool Room, Maintenance, and Production teams during new product launches.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, setup sheets, and work instructions.
  • Monitor production processes and recommend improvements to reduce scrap and improve cycle times.
  • Support automation, robotics, and auxiliary equipment during process development.
  • Train setup technicians and production personnel on established molding processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of injection molding process technician experience preferred.
  • Experience validating new molds and establishing production-ready processes.
  • Strong understanding of scientific molding principles.
  • Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ validation or equivalent process validation methods.
  • Ability to troubleshoot molding defects, tooling concerns, and processing challenges.
  • Experience with hot runner systems, mold cooling, and mold maintenance.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensional requirements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • RJG Scientific Molding certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience in medical or cleanroom molding environments.
  • Knowledge of automation, robotics, and vision systems.
  • Experience with DOE (Design of Experiments), SPC, and process capability studies.
  • Understanding of plastics materials and resin behavior.

What Makes Someone Successful Here

The ideal candidate:

  • Takes ownership and enjoys solving technical challenges.
  • Has a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Works well independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
