Job description

Crane Worldwide Logistics ships freight across the globe. The Software Integrations group builds the software that connects the systems that make that happen. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Corporate Integrations team to design and build these cloud-native, event-driven integration platforms. The ideal candidate has deep experience in the .NET ecosystem, distributed systems, and modern cloud-native development. You will work closely with technical leads, business stakeholders, and other engineers to design robust solutions, implement high-quality services, and mentor engineers across the team. This role combines hands-on engineering excellence with growing technical leadership, particularly around API design, event-driven systems, and integration architecture.

Corporate Integrations is a newly formed team within our Software Integrations organization, and this role will help shape its systems and engineering practices from the ground up. The role initially reports to the Director of Software Integrations. This is a remote position within the United States.

Essential Job Functions

Software Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and integrations using F# and .NET.
  • Build and maintain service-based APIs, event-driven services, and distributed systems.
  • Implement robust, high-throughput data processing and integration pipelines connecting enterprise business platforms (ERP, TMS, WMS, financial, and operational systems).
  • Contribute to the architecture and design of scalable, cloud-native integration platforms.
  • Design RESTful APIs and event-driven services that are reliable, traceable, and well tested.
  • Lead technical design reviews for team-owned initiatives, evaluate technical trade[1]offs, and guide system design decisions.
  • Develop and deploy services in AWS environments using Infrastructure-as-Code practices via Terraform.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions. Mentorship & Collaboration
  • Mentor engineers in software design, coding practices, and architecture.
  • Collaborate across Software Integrations teams to evolve shared engineering standards and architectural patterns.
  • Participate in technical interview rounds and provide hiring recommendations for engineering candidates.
  • Partner with technical leads and engineering leadership to onboard and develop engineers.

Physical Requirements

  • Talking, hearing and using hands to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and other computer components.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Job may require punctual attendance and regular presence on-site at the assigned work location

Education & Experience

Required

  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience designing and delivering production software systems.
  • Deep expertise within the .NET ecosystem, including strong command of C# or F#.
  • Willingness to develop F# and functional programming expertise — our systems are written in F#, and strong C# engineers are expected to ramp on the job.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
  • Experience with message-based and event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, NServiceBus, or other messaging/event streaming technologies).
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, resiliency, fault tolerance, concurrency, and system scalability.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications and services using modern engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and observability.
  • Experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.
  • Experience analyzing and improving system performance and scalability.

Preferred

  • Experience with F# or another functional-first language, or applied functional programming patterns in C#.
  • Experience with Kafka or other event streaming platforms.
  • Experience designing integrations between enterprise business systems (ERP, TMS, WMS, financial, or operational platforms).
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical teams.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code technologies such as Terraform or Pulumi.
  • Experience working in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related business domains.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
